Every gap is tested against companies already occupying it, and the result is published whichever way it falls. And where a figure or a claim is later found to be wrong, the correction appears in the study rather than quietly disappearing.
In the mobility study, nine of ten apparent gaps turn out to be occupied. In the business systems study, the failure account for the approach this firm sells is set out first and at the same length as the alternatives. Reporting either is the point. A study that never finds a claim overturned, or never names a weakness in its author’s own position, has not been checked.
